Pray 4 Trig is the ultimate backhanded compliment. This site is attempting to recruit people to pray for Trig Palin on April 18, 2010 (Trig's next birthday). They are going to ask God to make Trig "whole" and heal Trig of his "affliction." Hear that sound? It's the sound of God's jaw hitting the floor. Stop over and let them know what you think about this.
Read some of the responses Oz Squad team members have posted on their blogs:
welcometoillinois: Don’t pray4trig.com
TUC: On Suffering
Simeon’s Trail: I might vomit.
Disposable: Don’t pray for Trig, the work’s already been done

While I do believe they are trying to do good, I did drop by to let them know my thoughts on this.
ReplyDeleteAnd a wonderful comment you wrote. If they do intend to do good, it's a shame they have chosen such a misguided route.
ReplyDeleteWow,how sad they think God will heal Trig of his "affliction" when God is the one who made him exactly the way he intended him. They have absolutely no understanding of Down syndrome and how it is in every cell of our precious children's bodies!
ReplyDeleteOddly, this one sickened me more than the article in Mission #2 did. I am a Christian and our friends have been so supportive. Now I'm wondering if they are really pitying us instead. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteoy. how presumptuous of them. I wish people could just link them to posts that answer the whole "would I change my child" question. There were so many articulate answers.
ReplyDeleteSo misguided...My husband made the comment that they may be from a more extremist denomination. You know how that one group goes out and protests those killed in wars funerals? They don't know anything about Ds. That shows by their definition and constant referral to cancer or TBI's. Sad. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteI signed up to me a member but now I'm not sure I'm up to the challenge. This Pray 4 Trig website is so scary. These things are hard to read and again leave me speechless. Thank goodness for your courage to speak up and your eloquent words!
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of DSMama for hanging in there with Pony. I, too, believe that all things are possible with God, but that doesn't mean he wants to change what he created. The arguments made by dsmama were very thoughtful and respectful and faithful. I hope they do come visit your blog and ours as well to see with their own eyes the joy and love and beauty that their eyes are too clouded to see right now. Ds isn't a disease or sickness and I do believe that John Michael is closer to God than I. Why would I want to ask God to make him typical? The prayers need to be redirected. There are many months to go before this takes place, maybe it'll fizzle out. We'll see...
ReplyDeleteMy question to them was... when God doesn't "heal" Trig will they always look at him as not a whole person, afflicted by Ds. Because if they do then Trig is better off having nothing to do with them.
ReplyDeleteI posted my comments to the conversation on the Trig site a bit late, but I have to tell you I am so proud of this group!
ReplyDeleteMike, thank you for your insightfull comment at my post. ( http://beneaththewings.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-wouldnt-change-her-if-i-could.html ) I won't repeat my reply here (not applicable to this page), but you are the first to nearly convince me that I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteI hope I represented well with my comments. Tough to censor myself :) I had to stop and re-write a couple of times. LOL! Great job everybody!
